Rangers Approach Chelsea Target Man About January Switch But Face Uphill Battle To Sign Him

Rangers have made an enquiry for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, according to L’Equipe. The French newspaper, however, claim the Light Blues are very low down the 33-year-old’s list of priorities and are unlikely to be his preferred destination in January.

The favourite is believed to be Inter Milan, with former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte keen to reunite with his former player. A return to France is the second likeliest possibility, although only fours teams in Marseille, Lyon, Monaco or Paris Saint-Germain could afford his wages.

Giroud could look further afield, with offers having come from MLS clubs LA Galaxy and FC Toronto, but with Euro 2020 on the horizon, a move to the United States may not help his selection for the national team, especially as their season starts in late February.

Rangers are said to be looking for another striker, but with Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe scoring regularly, a bid for someone like Giroud, who would demand game time, is probably not needed considering his salary demands.
