‘On Their Radar’ Reliable Source Confirms Gerrard Is Being Considered As Genuine Contender For EPL Job

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is in contention to succeed Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, according to the Evening Standard.

The London newspaper claims that, while Spurs are holding talks with Nuno Espirito Santo, they also have Gerrard “on their radar”.

There have been links with the Tottenham job in the past, while Gerrard’s name has been mentioned in conjunction with both Everton and Wolves in recent weeks, but the feeling is that the 41-year-old would not leave Ibrox unless Liverpool come calling.

Whether Spurs will make a formal approach for Gerrard, we shall have to wait and see. The London club’s search for a new manager has been an unmitigated disaster with talks with three other managers, including Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso having broken down.

It is doubtful that Gerrard would feel wanted, considering the fact he would effectively be the fourth or fifth choice for the position.
