‘It’s Craziness’ Pundit Defends Rangers Boss Michael Beale Amid Calls For His Sacking

Rangers head coach Michael Beale is coming under pressure after a slow start to the 2023/24 season – but former Light Blues favourite Kenny Miller has urged Gers fans to remain patient.

Miller has decried calls for Beale to be removed from his position as ‘craziness’ and said that ‘there still needs to be time given’ before any sort of decision can be made.

Recently, Beale led Rangers to an humiliating defeat in the Champions League qualifying stage against PSV – shortly after this, the Light Blues were defeated by a depleted Celtic outfit in the Old Firm Derby.

What did Kenny Miller say about Michael Beale?

Speaking to the Daily Record, Miller said: “I know we’re probably nine games in when you factor in the European games. But in terms of the league, we’re only four, and I think as much as you understand the climate and everything that goes with it, it’s craziness to be talking about removing anybody at this stage of the season.

“Particularly after what’s gone on in the summer. There’s no doubt you don’t get time at the Old Firm. Listen, it took Steven Gerrard three years to win a trophy and it was a rebuild then. Obviously, Michael was part of that.

“As much as things need to improve and there’s no getting away from that, you can understand the frustration of the fans after a Celtic defeat and there’s two weeks to pick over it, but there still needs to be time given.

“I don’t think [sacking Beale] would have even been on the agenda for the board. They’ve probably had to answer it because of the aftermath of the game and the outcry and disappointment. For me, I know you don’t get time, I’m also a big believer that as long as they believe he’s the right man then a bit of stability and continuity can lead to success down the line.”

Should Rangers sack Michael Beale?

At this moment in time, it is perhaps too soon to call for the head of Beale – however, it should also be noted that he is running out of time to impress the fans.

Their patience is wearing thin – and with every passing game, it seems to wane even further. This has not been helped by the ineffectiveness of Beale’s signings, such as Danilo, Sam Lammers and Leon Balogun.

Beale’s negative tactics, combined with the poor transfer window he led, has left him in a difficult position. He will need to bolster Rangers’ position considerably to earn the fans’ trust once again – and fast.
