Laudrup Names The “Clever” Rangers Player He Wants To See Start Against Celtic This Weekend

Rangers legend Brian Laudrup is hoping that Todd Cantwell gets the nod to start Saturday’s Old Firm derby.

The January signing was omitted from the starting lineup for the Viaplay Cup final and Laudrup feels that manager Michael Beale should not make the same mistake twice by dropping him this weekend:

“I hope Todd Cantwell is picked this time. When he came on at Hampden, it was too late to make any impact. I felt Beale got that wrong. I like the tenacity I’ve seen from Cantwell, as well as his technique. He’s a clever player.”

Cantwell has been performing well in recent weeks. He got his third assist for the Gers in the 2-0 win over Dundee United last time out so you can’t see a scenario where he wouldn’t start at Celtic Park.

Both the 25-year-old and Malik Tillman have begun to link up pretty well. There had been a debate over whether the two players could play in the same team, but they have begun to gel in their respective roles.

Cantwell will, however, be keen to add more goals to his game, having scored just once in 11 matches since his arrival at Ibrox, and he will be desperate to get on the scoresheet against Celtic.
