Klopp Claims Rangers Developed Star Is “One Of The Biggest” Talents To Come Out Of Scotland In the Last 50 YEARS

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised the development of former Rangers academy graduate Billy Gilmour.

The midfielder spent eight years at Auchenhowie before moving south to play for Chelsea in 2017. He is on loan at Norwich City this season, and Klopp praised the Canaries for snapping up the 20-year-old ahead of Liverpool’s game at Carrow Road this weekend:

“Norwich have Billy Gilmour who is one of the biggest Scottish talents for the last 50 years, bringing him in on loan. They’ve done good business and it is exciting what they are doing.”

Gilmour has been heavily linked with a return on loan to Ibrox over the past couple of years but Chelsea seemingly wanted the Scotland international to play for an English Premier League side in order to aid his development.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard could do with Gilmour’s guile and passing range in midfield at the moment. The absence of Ryan Jack has been keenly felt at the start of the season, with new signing John Lundstram having failed to really set the world alight in his first few games for the club.
