Journalists Raises Doubts About Gerrard’s Future, Hinting Rangers Boss Could Quit

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has suggested a dispute over investment in the squad could lead to Steven Gerrard quitting Rangers in the not too distant future.

Speaking on the manager’s situation, the reporter hinted that there could be some talk of an exit before the start of next season unless certain issues are resolved with the Gers board:

“I just think there’s going to be an awful lot of questions on that subject in the next month or two. I mean the major question is when do we get back playing obviously but I’ve got reservations.”

“Put it this way, if you ask me right now, I don’t think there will be a third anniversary. I think we’ve had the second one, I don’t think there will be a third.”


“I think something will happen in, maybe not that far, in the future unless he gets the proper answers from his employers about money, about their position to challenge next season. I don’t know, I don’t know if he’ll hang around.”

Nixon doesn’t back up his assertions with any evidence so Bears supporters should take his comments with a large pinch of salt.

There is no doubt that Gerrard is ambitious and wants to ensure the Gers are challenging Celtic but, in the light of the current financial climate, he will no doubt understand why there won’t be a sizeable transfer budget.

Whether there are other issues in play, we just don’t know but, at this moment in time, there are no indications to suggest that the Rangers boss is unhappy at Ibrox
