Rangers are weighing up a possible move for Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes, according to journalist Tom Bogert.
The American reporter claims that the Light Blues could make a bid for the Ecuadorian this summer with the player running down his contract:
Have heard Leeds United, Rangers and Espnayol as potential options for LAFC & Ecuador int’l midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
I’d imagine a lot of teams in Europe are interested with his contract expiring at the end of 2023. Either an undervalued summer transfer or free in the winter. pic.twitter.com/CLl4X5EhFB

As Bogert mentions, the Gers won’t be the only team pursuing Cifuentes, with La Liga side Espanyol and English Premier League club Leeds also in the running to secure his services.
The 24-year-old played two games at the Qatar World Cup for Ecuador, playing the final 15 minutes of the 2-0 win over the hosts, before coming on as a substitute at halftime during the 2-1 defeat to Senegal in the last group match.
Cifuentes is a holding midfield player by trade, although he is also capable of playing further up the pitch, having scored 14 goals and contributed 17 assists in 104 appearances for LAFC over the past three and a half years.
