Johnstone Credits Rangers Ace For Attitude Change After Looking ‘Sullen’ And ‘Grumpy’

Rangers legend Derek Johnstone has praised striker Alfredo Morelos for an improvement in his attitude since the beginning of the campaign.

The Colombian has bagged nine goals in nine appearances for the Gers this season and has certainly looked happy to be at Ibrox despite speculation over his future in recent months. Johnstone thinks the forward deserves credit for his positivity:

“There have been times in Alfredo’s Rangers career when he has looked a bit sullen, a bit grumpy. But in recent weeks you have seen him play with a smile on his face and he seems to really be enjoying his football right now and his attitude looks to be spot on.”

A key part of Morelos’s great form has certainly been the competition with veteran Jermain Defoe. His rival has already scored six in eight games this campaign, including a hat-trick on his only Premiership appearance in the 6-1 win over Hibernian.

Morelos started on the bench during that match before scoring a brace after coming on as a substitute in the second half. The 23-year-old also sat out the 3-0 win over East Fife in the League Cup before returning to the starting line up against Legia Warsaw midweek.

It will be interesting to see who manager Steven Gerrard picks to start when Rangers face St Mirren tomorrow afternoon.
