Joe Cole Highlights “Special” Ibrox Factor As He Delivers Verdict On Rangers’ Europa League Draw

BT Sport pundit Joe Cole believes Braga won’t be able to handle the “special” atmosphere at Ibrox when Rangers take on the Portuguese side in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Scottish champions progressed from the last 16 after a 4-2 aggregate win against Red Star Belgrade. They will play Braga away in the first leg before the return fixture at home in the middle of next month. Cole claims the clash at Ibrox could prove decisive in determining who goes through to the semis:

“They [Braga] won’t have experienced anything like that. I think Ibrox is a special stadium. Special group of fans. Like I’ve said the story of the last 10 years has been incredible; the journey they [Rangers] have been on. Winning the league last year to now having this run and they won’t want it to end.”

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will, of course, have to be still in contention after the first leg in Portugal and Braga have shown themselves to be pretty decent on their own patch. The Gers will likely need the resolve they showed at the Marakana last night.

If they can get a result and take it back to Ibrox, though, you would back them to finish the job. It’s definitely a winnable tie.
