“It’s Going To Be Tough…” Van Dijk Delivers Warning About Ibrox As Rangers Gear Up For Revenge On Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk believes Rangers will make it “tough” for the Reds when they travel to Ibrox next week.

The disappointing defeat at Anfield means that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have zero points from three Champions League group games but van Dijk says he won’t be underestimating the Light Blues who will be spurred on by a very enthusiastic home crowd:

“They will have the fans there so it will make a big difference, especially at the beginning of the game. I don’t think Napoli scored until the 55th minute, so that shows you something. It’s going to be tough, especially in the beginning. But it’s also a game we should look forward to – after this weekend. I never played at Ibrox during my time in Scotland, actually. But going back to Scotland, I have great memories there. I had two seasons there and loved my time there. It will be good to be back there. But the focus will be on winning the game and playing a good game.”

The atmosphere should prove a leveller for the Gers but they will still have to improve on what was a rather tame performance on Merseyside.

Van Bronckhorst’s men rarely threatened Alisson Becker’s goal, with the only real openings coming late on, when Rabbi Matondo had an effort cleared off the line before Antonio Colak forced a save from close range soon afterwards.

Liverpool’s defence has shown itself to be pretty vulnerable when tested, as Napoli showed when they put four goals past them last month, so Rangers fans should hold out some hope that they can get a result next Wednesday.
