“I’m Not Happy About That” Rangers Star Raises Questions About His Playing Time Under Van Bronckhorst

Rangers left-back Borna Barisic has expressed his dissatisfaction with his lack of game time in recent weeks.

Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has only started the Croatian international in two of the last seven league games, and the defender says he is disappointed about the situation:

“As far as Rangers goes, I’m still playing plenty of minutes because we are playing every three or four days at the moment. I haven’t played in a few games and I’m not happy about that, but it’s not a drama. It’s been a fairy-tale for me at Rangers, and some things have changed now. But it’s nothing terrible.”

As Barisic makes clear in his remarks, he is not looking to rock the boat, but he won’t be keen on staying second fiddle to Calvin Bassey for very long.

His form this season has been pretty disappointing. He has not scored, and his three assists in 32 appearances pales in comparison to the 14 he managed last campaign.

It remains to be seen whether Barisic can turn his fortunes around and get his place back in the first team. For now, he will have to be content with minutes off the bench or with the few starting opportunities he will be afforded by van Bronckhorst between now and May.
