Rangers have confirmed the signing of forward Greg Stewart on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old, who spent last season out on loan at Kilmarnock and Aberdeen, will move to Ibrox after being released by Birmingham City.
Fans on Twitter understandably had a mixed reaction to the new signing:
I trust Gerrard 100% if he thinks there potential in Stewart i trust him. I want us SMILING at the end of season AND that crowd kept quiet.

Couldn’t get in to a poor Birmingham side. Jury’s out .

May be an option playing in behind a main striker, but hopefully not being seen as a winger. Still think we need a couple of players in the forward positions who are a massive upgrade on what we have already

Really talented played in correct position. Underrated. Will do better than many expect.

Technically very good. He'll be a good squad player.

Average player, no better than what we already have. Players of this calibre will not win the league!

A wee bit underwhelmed I think .. until he gets us winning goals at these awkward places of the past ?

He was fantastic at killie, so I don't see why he can't be playing the same role at us. Some people have got carried away moaning about this signing, I think he's a good signing to make even if it's just for squad depth.

I’ll reserve my opinion until I’ve actually seen the boy playing in a Gers top a few times ????

Stewart was excellent in the first half of the season for Killie, hitting eight goals and providing seven assists in 16 appearances for Steve Clarke’s side.
However, after switching clubs to Aberdeen in January, he failed to make an impact, being used out wide or as a number ten by Dons boss Derek McInnes.
Stewart played his best football whilst in a two-man strikeforce and Gers manager Steven Gerrard will most likely use him as an impact sub if his side need a goal.
As a free transfer, it’s not much of a gamble, but after flopping badly at Birmingham, it does raise question marks over whether he’ll make the grade at Ibrox.
