“I Don’t Think People Can Argue” Halliday Makes Boastful Claim About Rangers/Celtic Combined XI

Ex-Gers midfielder Andy Halliday says he would be happy to name an eleven full of Rangers players if he was asked again to pick a combined eleven from the Light Blues and Celtic squads.

Halliday, who left Ibrox for Hearts when his contract expired at the end of last season, says his reasoning cannot be argued with, considering the results of the two teams this campaign:

“I took a lot of stick at the start of the year when I did Si [Ferry]’s radio station and people said ‘do a combined XI’. I knew it was a stitch-up from the start because it was never going to go down well and I had eight Rangers players in. But I’d like to change it now and I would have 11. I don’t think people can argue. You’ve got to base it on what you are seeing, if there is a team of the year this year Rangers are going to have all the players.”

With Steven Gerrard‘s side 20 points ahead going into tonight’s match against St Johnstone, not many Celtic players really have a case for being included in the starting lineup.

Their goalkeeping situation is a mess, while the defence has been woeful at times. Even in midfield and up front, they have struggled for form, with only David Turnbull having really turned up.

At the moment, as Halliday claims, an eleven full of Rangers players is the only way to go and supporters will hope it stays that way for a long time.
