Rangers forward Kemar Roofe came off the bench to score the third in the 3-0 victory over Livingston at the weekend.
The 30-year-old has spent over a month on the sidelines after injuring his shoulder in the Scottish League Cup semi-final, but he could now be in contention to start the final at Hampden Park on Sunday.
When asked whether manager Michael Beale should pick Roofe ahead of Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak to face Celtic, fans on Twitter were very much split:
When he’s fit and playing, he’s a huge asset to the club. ❤️🤍💙

Probably start with Morelos but think Roofe will Finnish the game . Fancy Roofe get goal in final also

His movement is incredible.
Always.
If he could stay fit, he’d be nowhere near the Scottish league— ian brown 💙 (@ianbroonybrown) February 18, 2023
expect the same front 3 that started last OF but Roofe last 30 could have a massive impact

He is never going to be fit for any decent length of time. Great player but can’t trust him to stay fit for long enough.

If Tillman can’t make it, roofe can play in the 10 position like he has done in previous old firms with great reward.

He certainly has the best movement which will be crucial next week

Can’t see him starting. But a very good sub to have on the bench.

There is no doubting Roofe’s talent but, as some supporters have pointed out, his inability to stay fit means you cannot rely on him.
Roofe certainly looked sharp versus Livingston, having also missed a chance before getting on the scoresheet at Almondvale Stadium. Whether that 20 minute cameo will be enough to convince Beale to start the striker against their Old Firm rivals this weekend, though, we shall have to wait and see.
