Ex Rangers Star Tipped To Replace Ross Wilson After Helping EPL Side Challenge The ‘Big Six’

Brighton technical director David Weir is likely to be a candidate to replace Ross Wilson as Rangers’ Director of Football, according to the Daily Record.

Wilson has left Glasgow to join Nottingham Forest this week and the Gers are now seeking a new transfer chief ahead of the summer.

Weir, who had spells as a player and coach at the Light Blues, has been a key figure in Brighton’s ascendancy to the upper echelons of the Premier League.

After originally being appointed as the Seagulls loan manager in 2019, he was promoted to his current role when Dan Ashworth left to join Newcastle United in 2022.

Weir has helped the English Premier League club reach new heights over the past fifteen months, with the team currently sitting seventh in the table, above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

It remains to be seen whether the 52-year-old would be open to returning to Ibrox. He left in acrimonious circumstances back in 2017, having been sacked as assistant manager following Mark Warburton’s dismissal.
