Everton Turn Focus Towards Arsenal Defender As They Have 8M Bid For Patterson Rejected By Rangers

The Ibrox Stadium.

Everton have decided against making another offer for Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson, according to reports in the English media.

The Toffees are said to have tabled a second bid worth £8m (plus add-ons) for the 19-year-old, which was rejected by the Gers earlier this week.

With a move for Patterson ruled out, Rafa Benitez’s side are now said to be in negotiations to sign Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan, with an option to buy.

Light Blues fans will be glad that their club have seen off interest from the Premier League, especially as Patterson has such a bright future in the game.

The Scotland international is already challenging James Tavernier for a first-team place and there is no doubt that he is the long-term successor to the Rangers captain.

A move before the transfer window closed was probably impossible anyway. Patterson wouldn’t have been able to travel as he is still self-isolating after coming into contact with someone who had the virus.
