“Could Reach Their Limit” Chris Jack Raises Spectre Of EPL Interest In Two Key Rangers Players

Glasgow Evening Times‘ Rangers correspondent Chris Jack claims that the Bears won’t be able to compete with the wages of English teams if they make approaches for either Joe Aribo or Ryan Kent this summer.

Aribo was reportedly scouted by Crystal Palace during the last Old Firm derby, and he has also been tracked by Aston Villa and Leicester. Kent, meanwhile, has been a long-term target for Leeds and Jack claims the pair could earn a lot more money south of the border:

“There’s only so high they can go in terms of wages. Premier League clubs could blow them out of the water in terms of wages, so Rangers could reach their limit on Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent. Their agent could go to a Southampton or a Brentford and say double it and it would be no problem at all. They’d just say ‘here’s your money’.”

There will always be a debate about whether a player values financial rewards above trophies on the pitch. The Gers won the title last season, and they are in the knockout phase of the Europa League.

If they do manage to clinch title number 56, they will go straight into the Champions League group stage. Both Aribo and Kent know they won’t be playing in these competitions and battling for domestic honours if they return to England.

Out of the two, you would probably expect Kent to stay, considering the ex-Liverpool player has been in pretty poor form this campaign. In contrast, Aribo has been excellent and it will be up to the Nigerian whether he feels a Premier League move is for him.
