‘But We’re Skint’ ‘This Isn’t Happening’ Fans On Twitter Sceptical About Reports That Rangers Are Closing In On £4.5m Deal

Rangers are close to signing Ianis Hagi on a permanent deal from Racing Genk, according to Goal. The Light Blues are said to be filing the paperwork so that the £4.5m switch can be completed.

Although the Scottish club do have a purchase clause, there is a lot of debate on Twitter over whether the Gers can afford the figure considering the current financial climate:

It would be a surprise if the club do have the funds to finance the deal this summer, with the ongoing health crisis severely reducing income, but there could well be other motivations for making Hagi’s transfer to Ibrox permanent.

It has been widely reported that Lazio are interested in the 21-year-old, and it has led to some speculation that Rangers may sign the Romanian simply in order to sell him on for a profit. Whether that will in fact happen, we shall have to wait and see.
