Boyd Lays Out The FIVE Problems That Have Undermined Gerrard At Rangers

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd says there has been a number of factors that have coalesced over the past weeks that have undermined Steven Gerrard’s position as manager.

He thinks James Tavernier’s comments in the matchday programme, Alfredo Morelos returning late from a visit to Colombia, Michael Beale’s remarks on the Gers being more suited to the Europa League, the decision to only let Andy Halliday speak to the press, and the continued absence of chairman Dave King are all symptomatic of the club not pulling in the same direction:

“For me, NONE of these things should have been allowed to happen. They haven’t helped Gerrard in any way, shape or form. He will know performances must get better quickly – but all this other stuff could have been prevented.”

“And it’s high time someone in authority at Ibrox brought everyone together to remind them that the only way forward for the club is to end this culture of looking after yourself.”

The issues have begun to mount for Gerrard in recent weeks, but the 39-year-old hasn’t helped with his own comments about certain players and questioning his own future at the club.

As Boyd says, there is a lack of unity currently with every individual in it for themselves, and that must change in order for the club to get back on track.
