Rangers left-back Lee Wallace is leaving the club after eight years, his wife has confirmed in an emotional message published on Twitter.
The 31-year-old stayed at the club during its darkest days and helped them recover from League Two back into the Premiership.
Supporters have been paying tribute to Wallace for his loyalty to the club:

He will never, ever be forgotten and always welcome at Ibrox. That man stood by us when we had very few doing the same – kicking us while we were down. The word legend gets thrown around too much these days but he truly is our legend ??? pic.twitter.com/U7275zHyet

Wallace has struggled with injuries and the club captain has made just ten appearances in total over the past two seasons. It was, therefore, always likely that the club would not renew his contract with his deal expiring at the end of June.
The fullback signed from Hearts in 2011 and played in the team’s final season in the Premiership before the club’s demotion to the bottom tier.
Wallace was a regular as Rangers got back to back promotions from League Two and League One, as well as playing two seasons in the Championship. He then played a full part in the club’s first campaign back in the top flight.
