3 Options On The Table As Rangers And Eight Other British Clubs Hold Talks With UEFA Over Midweek Games

Rangers and eight other British clubs are holding high-level discussions with UEFA to decide what to do about the midweek fixtures in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, according to reports.

With the UK in national mourning over the death of Queen Elizabeth II, there is uncertainty over whether the fixtures will be played. There are reportedly three possible outcomes:

1) All the games go ahead as planned with no changes being made.

2) UEFA can switch any matches being played at home to away fixtures.

3) Clubs could be forced to forfeit the fixture if they refuse to play

Of course, the third option is the least likely, but clubs (such as Rangers) need to know where they stand with UEFA if playing midweek is not possible. Giovanni van Bronckhorst‘s men are currently expected to host Napoli at Ibrox on Tuesday evening so a decision needs to be made soon.
