Rangers are reportedly considering a move for Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne, which could signal the end of James Tavernier’s time at the club.
There have been suggestions that the Gers captain could be sold for £4m this summer, with the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa said to be eyeing a move for the fullback.
If reports of the Scottish club’s move for Clyne are genuine, it does suggest a changing of the guard in the backline. Fans on Twitter would back a move for the 28-year-old, although some doubt it’s a realistic prospect:
I did float his name in my XI for next season…would be a great signing IMO

Wages would be a stumbling block but if he’s willing to take a 20/30k pay cut then aye he’d be a cracking signing

Yes – I'd take him.
No – this is never happening as he'll still be on huge wages.
The bonkers rumours are starting again!

Bring him in, sell Tavernier

Tavernier has made a series of mistakes this season which have cost the team, and it does appear more and more likely that he’ll depart Ibrox in the summer.
Whether Clyne is actually being lined up as his replacement, we shall have to wait and see. He certainly has the ability but there are likely to be a number of other teams interested in snapping him up as well.
