Wolves Overlooked Both Steven Gerrard And Frank Lampard As They Line Up 45 Year Old Manager

Wolves “considered” making approaches for both Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard before opting to hire ex-Benfica head coach Bruno Lage, according to The Athletic.

The 45-year-old has not been officially announced as the English club’s manager yet, due to a work permit issue, and if he doesn’t get the required visa, they may have to look at other potential candidates.

Whether Gerrard would have been interested in the Wolves’ job anyway, it is debatable. There is no doubt that the Englishman will return to manage in the Premier League one day.

However, unless it is Liverpool, it is hard to see where he would find a better job than Rangers at the moment. Wolves are not in Europe next season and need a substantial rebuild after finishing 13th in the table.

In contrast, the Light Blues could be playing in the Champions League group stages if they make it through two qualifying rounds.
