Wilson Refuses To Be Drawn On Talk That Rangers Are Preparing Swoop For Duo

Rangers Director of Football Ross Wilson has refused to deny speculation linking the club with Zulte Waregen’s Saido Berahino and Bournemouth’s Jordon Ibe.

Berahino was mentioned as one of the players the Gers have been scouting by the Belgian media, while Ibe is available on a free transfer this summer.

Wilson did not explicitly reject the links to the two players but suggested that fans should not believe what they read about transfers in the press:

“I’m not going to name any names. One thing I will say, and I’ve said this since I got here, is I’m always amazed at the amount of names that are linked with Rangers.”

“There’s more names linked with us than any club I’ve ever been involved in before and hardly any of them are ever right so you can take from that what you will.”

The departures of Florian Kamberi and Sheyi Ojo following the end of their loan spells means the Light Blues will be looking for a new striker and another winger when the transfer window opens.

Both Berahino and Ibe do, however, have disciplinary issues, which may see Rangers manager Steven Gerrard think twice about making offers for them despite their undoubted talent.

Ibe, in particular, would be an interesting addition. The 24-year-old arrived at Anfield when Gerrard was still a player but his career has been on a downward spiral since he moved to the Cherries for £15m four years ago.
