Wilson Eyeing Summer Swoop For English Championship Star He Once Paid 13.5M For

Rangers director of football Ross Wilson is targeting Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, according to reports in the UK.

The 27-year-old has lost his place as the Canaries’ number one under new manager David Wagner, and Wilson is believed to be keen on making him Allan McGregor‘s replacement.

Gunn has been recruited by Wilson before. When he was at Southampton, he helped sign the shot-stopper from Manchester City in the summer of 2019, when the Saints paid £13.5m for the player’s services.

Things didn’t work out for the keeper on the south coast, and it looks as though his time in Norfolk is also likely to end in failure.

That does raise the question whether Rangers should be targeting him, considering his struggles south of the border. Wilson’s track record for spotting talent is patchy, to say the least, and it’s absolutely pivotal that the club replace McGregor with the right player. There is no doubt that recruiting Gunn would be a big risk.
