Wilder Reveals Contract Stance As Rangers And West Ham Circle 26 Year Old Midfield Enforcer

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has suggested John Lundstram will leave Bramall Lane at the end of the season.

The likes of Rangers, Burnley and West Ham are all thought to be interested in signing the 26-year-old on a free transfer when his contract runs out in the summer.

United would have likely considered selling Lundstram in the January transfer window, but Wilder says there was no interest in the midfielder. He also confirmed that no discussions have taken place about offering improved terms to the player:

“No. There’s been no interest. I believed he will be here until the end of the season and that will be the case. Not really thought about it to be honest (keeping him in the summer). It’s been put to bed in terms of his situation and him getting his head down, which he is doing, and us involving him, which we are doing. I have not thought about that situation or that option.”

It does kind of suggest that Lundstram is either in talks with clubs about signing a pre-contract agreement or he has already made up his mind as to who he will join.

Rangers have recently signed up Bournemouth midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh for next season, while the Light Blues also have a purchase option on Bongani Zungu. It may be the case that Lundstram is no longer a target for the club, but we shall see.
