‘When He Goes, He Goes With Our Thanks’ ‘Legend.’ Fans Respond To Speculation About Key Rangers Figure

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says he is not interested in becoming Liverpool manager at the moment and he firmly believes Jurgen Klopp will be the club’s head coach for many more years to come.

There was speculation regarding the 53-year-old and the German national team job following the announcement that Joachim Low would step down after the European Championships. That subsequently prompted talk of Gerrard moving back to his hometown club but, in an interview, he said he wants Klopp to stay at Anfield:

“The Liverpool fans don’t want me to be the manager of Liverpool Football Club. They want Jurgen Klopp to continue to be the Liverpool manager – and I’m totally with all of them. We shouldn’t talk about this, we have one of the best managers leading our club at the minute. I love him. I hope he stays for a few more years. But I’ve got a job here. I don’t think it’s helpful to talk about this and I hope Jurgen stays at Liverpool for many years.”

Rangers fans on Twitter are glad that Gerrard has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, although they accept that, in the long term, he will eventually join Liverpool:

Reports coming out of Merseyside suggest Liverpool’s owners are firmly behind Klopp, and with the Reds boss not interested in taking the Germany job, it doesn’t look like they will be trying to hire Gerrard any time soon.
