“We Have Rejected Some Big Offers” Rangers Chief Confirms Transfer Interest

Rangers’ Director of Football Ross Wilson has revealed that the Scottish champions have had to reject some sizeable bids for key players in recent transfer windows.

Some pundits were surprised that the Light Blues only sold George Edmundson for a transfer fee this summer, with many assuming that the club had a financial blackhole to fill due to the impact of the global health crisis.

However, Wilson says that Rangers are determined to keep hold of their star names, and much of that is down to the ambition of chairman Douglas Park and the board of directors:

“We have rejected some big offers for players in each of my summer windows here, but the time will come when players do leave. When it does we will move on to the next player and embrace that freshness. The chairman and the board are so intent on taking the club back to where we want to be. We are delighted to have won the 55th title in our history – it was such a significant one for the fans and the club.”

Alfredo Morelos has effectively confirmed that Porto were in for him this summer. Glen Kamara was reportedly being scouted by Arsenal, West Ham, Everton and Watford while Ryan Kent (Leeds) and Ianis Hagi (Lazio and Sevilla) were also highly coveted.

It is impressive that the Gers were able to resist offloading these players, and it shows the level of backing they are prepared to give manager Steven Gerrard.
