Van Bronckhorst Makes Worrying Claim About Availability Of Rangers Trio

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst does not expect to have centre-backs John Souttar or Filip Helander available anytime soon.

Souttar has not been seen in action since the opening day win against Livingston, while Helander has not played for the Light Blues since the back end of last season and, when asked when the pair could return to action, van Bronckhorst replied:

“John Souttar and Fil Helander will take longer. They won’t be back after the break or in the coming weeks.”

Van Bronckhorst wasn’t as downbeat when it came to Kemar Roofe, but he wasn’t forthcoming about when the striker could make his first-team comeback:

“Kemar we will have to see. He is one of the players who can come back really quick or maybe take a longer time. It’s been like that for Kemar for the last months.”

There was some positive injury news, though. Tom Lawrence, who missed the 3-0 defeat to Napoli and the 2-1 win over Dundee United with a knee injury, is likely to be back in contention after the international break.

The 28-year-old is not guaranteed to be ready to face Hearts on October 1st but there is a possibility that he’ll be able to play against Liverpool a few days later.
