‘Unthinkable’ Sutton Taken Aback By Rangers Defeat

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton says even he was at a loss to explain how Rangers lost to Hamilton last night. The Light Blues were defeated at home by the Scottish Premiership’s bottom side, following a goal from David Moyo ten minutes into the second half.

Their Glasgow rivals Celtic drew at Livingston but the point extended the Hoops’ lead at the top of the table, and Sutton said he couldn’t have predicted that at the start of the evening:

“Put everything into context, Neil Lennon’s Celtic team have gone 13 points clear of Rangers. I have to say, I thought that was unthinkable. I didn’t see Rangers slipping up. He must be laughing his head off.”

It’s a new low for Gers boss Steven Gerrard. The 39-year-old said he was contemplating his future after the 1-0 defeat to Hearts in the Scottish Cup last weekend, but he revealed after the game yesterday that this latest loss felt even worse.

Rangers will have to pick themselves up quickly. They face Ross County on Sunday before a massive game against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League next Thursday. Pretty much the whole season now rests on the outcome of the European tie.
