Rangers attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell has stepped up his performances in recent games after a relatively slow start to life at Ibrox.
However, manager Michael Beale has confirmed that Malik Tillman will be back fit and available for Saturday’s game at Motherwell.
Both Cantwell and Tillman have performed well in similar roles, playing in an advanced central midfield position, and there are question marks over whether the two players can play together. Fans have been discussing the conundrum on Twitter:
When trying to shoehorn players in , it rarely works and especially vs celtic Beale can’t get his selection wrong – Jack raskin cantwell have the shirts – Tillman on bench

maybe easier if Kent leaves in summer and Cantwell can play off the left?

Comes down to Tillman wanting to be a mainstay at the Club for the foreseeable future, you don’t put him in if he’s not going to be here next season. Which bodes the question would I want him here next year? Not on what he’s shown in ‘big’ games currently no.

Cantwell has the Jersey over tillman now. For me, I don’t see tillman being here next season, we have hagi and Lawrence for that position as well

There is no doubt that Tillman offers the greater goal threat, but Cantwell is a better link-up player between midfield and the forward line.
Beale may, therefore, take a ‘horses for courses’ approach, selecting either Tillman or Cantwell depending on the type of game. For fixtures such as Motherwell, the latter may be the better option. Considering Tillman has been sidelined for a couple of weeks, he may only be fit enough for the bench anyway.
