Rangers defender Connor Goldson has not been in the greatest of form in recent matches, with a number of errors on the ball, and some supporters have been suggesting it may be time to drop the 26-year-old.
£3.5m summer signing Filip Helander has only made one start in the league and a number of fans on Twitter have been asking whether the Swede ahould replace Goldson in the side:
Goldson is our best footballing centre half but I always feel there’s a mistake in him, not aggressive enough for me either, Edmundson has the best ping and never put a foot wrong but never gets a look either….strange!!

This. Other players would of been dropped

I was very disappointed that Gerrard hadn’t dropped goldson after gifting them the first goal aribo should have been dropped as well

Goldson needs a seat in the stand for a bit most problems at the back come through him and obviously someone has told him he’s a player with his 40yrd passes that never find a blue Jersey

Goldson is reliable! Can always rely on him to pass the ball to the opposition at least 5 times during the match!!!
Time to wake up boss, Helander’s due a run out!!— Johnboy7️⃣2️⃣ ?? (@Johnster1972) 14 September 2019
Others disagree:
I’m all for Helander getting a shot, but not at the expense of Goldson. Other than that error in the OF, he’s not done anything else wrong, whereas Katic has been caught out of position a good number of times already this season.

Goldson is the only one of the back who constantly talks to others and for me is first choice

He had a bad game – best thing to do is put him straight back in.

He made one mistake ?

Aye, Katic has been a colossus the last 2 games when Goldson and McGregor have stopped him costing us goals ? Goldson is number 1 CB. If you want Helander given a chance say goodbye to poster boy Katic

The Gers have four competitions to play in this season so it is likely that all four of the club’s senior centre-backs will get their opportunity to perform.
However, there is a feeling that manager Steven Gerrard is being too loyal to Goldson following some below-par performances. The club did not spend such a sizeable sum on Helander for nothing so it will be interesting to see when and where he will get his chance. Will he get it at the expense of Goldson? We shall see.
