“The Party Is Over” Sky Sports Pundit Thinks Gerrard Knows Title Is Already Lost

Former Celtic winger Davie Provan says he saw a defeated Steven Gerrard when he walked off the pitch after the 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock on Wednesday night.

The Sky Sports pundit believes the Rangers manager is now resigned to losing the title to Celtic this season:

“On full-time at Rugby Park, Gerrard had the look of a man who knew their latest capitulation was beyond repair. He’s been around long enough to know the party is over. While you won’t hear Gerrard or Neil Lennon admit nine in a row is a done deal, the engraver can start any time.”

Slipping ten points behind their Old Firm rivals after the midweek round of fixtures would have been tough to take for Gerrard but he isn’t one for giving up, as his playing career has shown.

It is a sizeable gap to the league leaders but there are still two Old Firm derbies before the end of the season, and there is always a chance that Celtic will slip up.

However, it will require the Light Blues to be almost perfect between now and the end of the campaign. Considering their form at the moment, that doesn’t look likely, but stranger things have happened in football.
