Rangers have announced that goalkeeper Allan McGregor has signed a new contract keeping him at Ibrox until 2022.
The 39-year-old’s current deal was due to expire in June but the veteran shot-stopper has deservedly been handed a one-year extension after a super season between the sticks.
Understandably, Gers supporters on Twitter were extremely happy with the news, with McGregor having shown he is still a top-class keeper this campaign:

I’m not being biased or that but he’s easily the best keeper the world has ever seen

There have been some standout saves this season, but his one-handed stop to keep out Slavia Prague in the dying moments of the Europa League tie last month has to be the highlight. For a player who is close to 40, McGregor showed unbelievable reflexes to get down, stop the shot and gather the ball.
Over the course of the campaign, the goalkeeper has undoubtedly helped claim a number of points, and he has had a big hand in Rangers winning title number 55.
