Sky Sports Pundit Gives His Prediction As To When £18m Transfer Will Be Finalised

Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd expects Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos to leave Ibrox by the end of this week, following the arrival of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.

Negotiations over the Colombian international’s move to Lille have reportedly stalled but, with the French transfer window only opening in the middle of this month, Boyd thinks there is time for the situation to change:

“I don’t think Rangers would have brought in two strikers if they were to keep Morelos. To have four strikers to play that one role… it’s not going to happen.”

“We said last week Rangers had to get two strikers in, they’ve done that without even selling Alfredo Morelos, and I think towards the end of this week we’ll see something agreed.”

“The French window doesn’t open until August 15, there’s not much that can be announced before that, but it can all be agreed and tied up in place.”

Manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Morelos will play against Bayer Leverkusen this evening so it looks as though a transfer is still quite far off from being finalised.

Boyd’s point about having four strikers for one position, though, is bang on the money and it is surely the case that both Roofe and Itten were signed with funds that Rangers anticipated receiving from the sale of Morelos.

Reports in France suggest the Light Blues are demanding around €20m (£18m) for the 24-year-old but so far Lille have only tabled a €15m (£13.5m) proposal.
