Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has admitted that Alfredo Morelos has his sights set on leaving Ibrox. The Colombian international started the 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last night but was substituted with 13 minutes left to go without making an impression on the game.
After the match, Gerrard was asked whether the 24-year-old will still be at the club next week, and the Gers boss was honest with his response:
“I don’t know because I can’t control what goes on outside. Everyone knows he’s had his head turned, for sure. There’s no denying that.”
Supporters on Twitter were not particularly impressed with Morelos’s display against Leverkusen:
Shocking display from him

Not really going to miss him much, if the two new boys are banging them in he won’t be missed.

Would like to thank him for coming to us and ( hopefully) being part of the rebuilding programme.
Never won us anything , trophy wise and that’s what being a Rangers player is all about . let him go and let’s move on to the next phase ?????????— Alex ?????? (@MrAlexbaird) August 6, 2020
Wish him all the best for his contribution to the team over the years but at this moment in time I’m looking forward to him leaving and getting some money in. He’s not kicked a ball since December. It’s obvious his mind is elsewhere.

He did us a turn but had his head turned far too often so “Adiós Amigo”

There have been concerns over the Colombian’s fitness, while the striker has struggled with his form since the turn of the year, so there are other factors in play.
However, it is clear for all to see that Morelos’s mind is elsewhere and it would be best for all concerned if a move can be sorted out soon. If that happens, Gerrard will be hoping that both new signings, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, can hit the ground running with Jermain Defoe still sidelined with a hamstring problem.
