Romano Confirms Three Premier League Clubs Have “Sent” Scouts To See Rangers Starlet In Action

Manchester United, Leeds and Newcastle have all been keeping tabs on Rangers defender Leon King, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The teenager has started two senior games this season, including the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool last week, and Romano says English teams are tracking his progress with the centre-back having less than two years remaining on his contract:

“I am told that Premier League and European clubs are pushing to sign him because he is out of contract in 2024 with Rangers. At the moment the situation is absolutely open with his contract. Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester United have sent their scouts to follow this boy with Rangers. Leon King, one to watch.”

King has been linked with Premier League clubs before but he turned down advances in order to sign his first professional contract with the Gers in March 2020.

His ambition has been to break into the first team, and manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has started to give him opportunities in recent weeks.

King certainly didn’t look overawed when playing at Anfield, and the feeling is that he could be integrated further into the senior setup as the season goes on. The interest being shown in him will undoubtedly complicate talks over a new deal and it will be hoped that the player sees his long-term future at Ibrox.
