Rodgers Aims Dig At Rangers After Celtic Are Awarded League Title

Brendan Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester City last year under a cloud but it has still not stopped him from taking a sly dig at Rangers.

The former Liverpool manager was being interviewed by Richard Keys and Andy Gray when he pointed out Gray’s previous association with the Light Blues in order to make his remark:

“Andy I’ve just got to say, it’s great timing to join you. As a Celtic man to a Rangers man, nine in a row.”

As Gers legend Ally McCoist pointed out yesterday, this title was awarded by the SPFL due to extenuating circumstances, and it is strange to see it being celebrated by Hoops fans like any other championship victory.

There can’t really be any dispute over there being an asterisk on Celtic’s “nine in a row” and Rodgers’ joke will not help in terms of divisions between the two Old Firm rivals.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and his side will certainly be extra determined next season to ensure that the Hoops’ run of titles comes to an end.
