Report Suggests Rangers Are Hoping To Seal Transfer Of Prolific Midfielder ‘This Week’

Rangers are keen on tieing up a deal for Preston North End midfielder Daniel Johnson “this week” according to the Scottish Sun.

It is believed the Light Blues have only made an enquiry for the 27-year-old so far, and North End head coach Alex Neil has encouraged interested clubs to come forward with formal bids in order to end speculation over some of his players’ futures.

Reports in England suggest that Preston could well hold out for a lot more than the £2m that was originally suggested as Johnson’s valuation. The Scottish Sun say that the Gers will not be sucked into an auction for the Jamaican. They are prepared to walk away and look at signing an alternative before the transfer deadline next month.

The midfielder is said to be keen on a move to Ibrox but much will depend on whether Rangers and Preston can come to a compromise over a transfer fee for the player.
