REPORT: Rangers Shortlist Nigerian Marksman As Club Eye Morelos Replacement

Rangers are seriously considering making a move for Bordeaux forward Josh Maja, according to journalist Ignazio Genuardi (via Get French Football News)

It was reported last month that the 21-year-old was one of a number of strikers that the Light Blues were looking at and it seems that Steven Gerrard’ side have now shortlisted him as a potential target.

With doubts surrounding the future of Alfredo Morelos, Rangers are likely making contingency plans just in case the Colombian international leaves Ibrox.

Director of Football Ross Wilson has stated that the current global situation may lead to the 23-year-old staying at the club, although he didn’t completely rule out a move either. The likes of West Ham and Leicester are reportedly keen on signing him.

It remains to be seen whether Maja would be the number one replacement for Morelos if the Colombian left. The Bordeaux striker has had a decent season in France, scoring eight goals in 23 appearances.

However, the Nigerian has struggled for opportunities, having made just eight starts in all competitions this campaign.
