REPORT: Rangers Have ‘Shown Interest’ In Signing Portuguese Midfield Maestro On Loan

Rangers have “shown interest” in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Luis on loan until the end of the season, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese newspaper claims that Sporting manager Jorge Silas would not be opposed to the 20-year-old leaving during the January transfer window as he is currently not a regular starter.

Luis has played just seven games in all competitions this campaign, making two starts in the league and three more in the Europa League group stages.

He is usually a central midfield player, but he can play wide on the left and the right, which could make him a useful utility man for manager Steven Gerrard.

The Light Blues cut Andy King’s loan short from Leicester earlier this month, and with Ryan Jack likely to be out for the short term with a calf injury, after being replaced at half time in the defeat to Hearts, the Scottish club could well be considering strengthening the midfield area.
