REPORT: Rangers Boss Being Targeted By Club On The Continent

Besiktas are considering a move for Rangers manager Steven Gerrard if they sack current coach Abdullah Avci, according to reports in the Turkish media.

The Super Lig club have not had the best start to the season, currently sitting 12th in the league and having lost both their group games in the Europa League.

Besiktas chief Fikret Orman is stepping down as the club’s president, and it has been reported that one of the new presidential candidates would favour appointing Gerrard.

Even so, it is unlikely that Rangers would sanction talks and it would be very surprising if Gerrard was interested in a switch to Turkey, especially considering how focused he is on the job at Ibrox.

The former Liverpool player has guided the Gers to the top of the Premiership table after eight games, and will likely be determined to see out the project he has started with the Light Blues.
