Report Insists Rangers Will Have To Pay 3.6M For Midfielder Amid Claims Of Cut Price Deal

Rangers will have to pay €4m (£3.6m) if they want Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu to join on a permanent basis at the end of the season, according to Soccer Laduma.

The website reports that claims coming out of Scotland that the Light Blues will only have to pay £2.7m for the South African international are wide of the mark with Amiens insisting that their €4m valuation is met in full.

Zungu joined Rangers on loan earlier this month following a protracted transfer saga. The transfer fee was always believed to be the main problem in getting a permanent deal over the line, combined with the player’s contract situation.

The 28-year-old’s contract was set to run out at the end of the season, which would mean that the player could have signed a pre-contract agreement in January. However, Zungu agreed a one-year extension in order to complete his loan switch to Rangers, and it now appears that the dispute over the fee has yet to be resolved.
