REPORT: Defender Will Ask To Leave Rangers As £4m Departure Draws Nearer

Rangers captain James Tavernier is ready to quit Ibrox in the summer, according to the Football Insider. Reporter Wayne Veysey claims the 28-year-old is prepared to leave the Gers for a move back down South.

The fullback has just over two years remaining on his contract with the Light Blues, and the Scottish side are said to be willing to sell him for around £4m.

With that being the case, Tavernier will let it be known that he’d be open to a return to England, with the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle reportedly on his tail.

The defender has struggled for form this campaign and came in for heavy criticism from fans following comments he made to the matchday programme earlier this month.

It now appears that both Tavernier and the club are willing to break ties four and a half years after the right-back made the move North from Wigan.
