Rangers Vying With Ligue One Club To Sign South African Midfield Enforcer

Rangers have made an enquiry about Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu, according to reports in the French media.

The South African international was relegated from the top flight with his team this season, and it is believed he will be available for between €2m (£1.8m) and €3m (£2.7m).

Zungu is not only being tracked by the Light Blues, though, with Ligue One outfit Strasbourg also keen on securing the player’s signature.

The 27-year-old is generally used as a holding midfielder, providing a shield for the back four. He has been a later bloomer having played most of his career in South Africa before moving to Vitoria Guimaraes back in January 2017.

Zungu spent just six months in Portugal before he was snapped up Amiens at the start of the 2017/18 season. He has spent the last three years in France, making 57 appearances in all competitions.

At international level, he is a regular starter, having been capped 29 times by South Africa since making his debut back in 2013.
