Rangers are set to take on bitter rivals Celtic in yet another Old Firm derby this season – after a string of stalemates and defeats, can the Gers break their derby day duck?
Rangers are expected to be without Tom Lawrence, Nmandi Ofoborh, Malik Tillman, Steven Davis, Filip Helander, Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe for their game against the Hoops. The Light Blues have struggled with injuries this season – sadly, the last Glasgow derby of the season will be no exception.
In their last game, Rangers defeated third-placed Aberdeen by a score of 1-0 at the Ibrox Stadium. It was a closely contested outing, as the Dons threatened the Gers on a number of occasions – in the end, the only goal of the game was netted by Todd Cantwell.
Meanwhile, Celtic overcame Hearts by a score of 2-0 in their previous SPFL fixture. After a tight first half, Hearts’ Alex Cochrane received a red card just before the break – in the second half, Celtic capitalised on their man advantage. Goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu ultimately gave the Celts the three points – and the Scottish Premiership title.
In the previous Old Firm derby, in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup, Celtic beat their rivals by a score of 1-0. Jota scored the only goal of the afternoon – can the Light Blues earn some long-overdue revenge on Saturday?
