Rangers and Celtic are both scouting Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller, according to TEAMtalk.
The website claims that the two Old Firm rivals are “keeping close tabs” on the 17-year-old who has impressed since making his first-team debut last season.
Miller was handed his first senior appearance when he came on against Inverness Caledonian Thistle during a Viaplay Cup game in August 2022.
His first league game was coincidentally against Rangers when manager Stevie Hammell put him on for the final 25 minutes of Motherwell’s 3-0 defeat to the Light Blues last year.
Miller has established himself as a regular starter this season. After scoring his first goal against Elgin City in the Viaplay Cup back in July, he has gone on to make 14 appearances in all competitions (13 of which have been starts).
English Premier League clubs are circling
Philippe Clement’s side won’t just have to fend off Scottish teams in order to snap up the teenager. Clubs south of the border have also taken a keen interest in Miller’s progress.
TEAMtalk report that no less than six Premier League sides have scouted the Scotland youth international since the beginning of the campaign, including Tottenham, Aston Villa, West Ham, Brighton, Brentford and Newcastle.
Miller has just signed a contract extension with Motherwell
It should be pointed out that the midfielder put pen to paper on a new deal keeping him at Fir Park until 2027 last week, so he isn’t exactly angling for a move away from his current club.
The fact that Miller has only played 19 senior matches in total means that it’s likely that Rangers and other interested teams will continue to monitor his development before deciding on whether to make a move for him next summer.
