REPORT: Rangers Have Bid Rejected For Highly-Rated English Defender

Rangers have reportedly had a transfer bid rejected for 20-year-old Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell, according to a report from Football League World.

It is unclear how much Rangers put forth to Leeds – additionally, it is also unknown how much Leeds would require for the starlet defender to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Interest in Cresswell is thought to be high – Michael Beale and Rangers are not the only ones who are keen on bringing him on board.

Who else, besides Rangers, are interested in Charlie Cresswell?

Over the past year, Rangers are not the only club to have registered an interest in bringing Cresswell to the club. Back in February, he was linked with a move to Coventry City – however, the Sky Blues’ failure to make it into the Premier League may have since scuppered their plans.

Additionally, Norwich City were also linked with the player – but this was back in October, with nothing new regarding their interest surfacing since then.

Furthermore, Millwall will also likely be interested in the prospect of bringing him back to the club. However, no official approach has been made by the Lions as of yet.

Charlie Cresswell football career summary so far

Born in Preston in 2002, Charlie Cresswell joined the youth academy of Leeds United in 2013, when he was just eleven years of age. He steadily progressed through the ranks, finally signing a senior contract with the Whites in 2019.

So far, he has made five appearances for Leeds – he made his Premier League debut in September 2021 during a 2-1 victory over West Ham United.

However, he began to catch attention from clubs across the country when he moved on loan to Millwall for the duration of the 2022/23 Championship season. At The Den, Cresswell’s strengths were on display for all to see.

Not only did he show untouchable aerial dominance with his large frame, he surprised several audiences with his underrated technical ability and passing range.

Millwall finished 8th in the Championship last season, just outside of the playoffs. They defied expectations with their dogged performances – Cresswell played a huge role in this, as he helped to hold their sturdy defence together against the league’s toughest customers and deadliest forwards.
