Rangers Told To Pay 2.2M If They Want To Secure Deal For “Monstrous” Midfield Target

Standard Liege have told Rangers they want £2.2m for Nicolas Raskin, according to reports.

Light Blues boss Michael Beale has admitted that the club are interested in the 21-year-old but, with the player having less than six months left on his contract, it was assumed he would be available for a low fee in January.

However, it appears Standard have slapped a pretty high price tag on Raskin. Whether they will stand firm on their stance, it is debatable. The midfielder can already sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs ahead of a free transfer next summer.

With that being the case, it’s likely that the Gers will be able to find a compromise in order to bring in the Belgian this month.  He has been hailed as a promising young talent, with former Celtic boss Ronny Deila (who is now in charge of Standard), stating after a win back in October:

“The whole team was good but Nicolas Raskin was the man of this game in my eyes. He was monstrous and I’m happy for him. We’re talking about a leader, a player who makes the game in front and behind.”
