Rangers winger Ryan Kent could be a surprise target for AC Milan at the end of the season, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Ibrox News).

The former Liverpool winger is likely to leave the Light Blues on a free transfer when his contract expires, and it has been suggested that he could replace Rafael Leao if the Rossoneri follow their “Moneyball” approach.

Leao is likely to depart the San Siro this summer, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain all pursuing the Portuguese international.

Gazzetta claim that the Serie A champions will use statistics to identify a potential successor and they say three data companies have highlighted Kent as a possible option.

Whether the Rossoneri would actually go ahead and sign the 26-year-old on a Bosman, it is doubtful, but it does emphasise how poor the decision is to allow the player’s contract to run down.
